Early Coaching Career

Before his time at Providence, Ed Cooley was an assistant coach at Boston College and Fairfield. He was also the head coach at Fairfield from 2006-2011, where he compiled a record of 94-76.

Providence Friars

In 2011, Ed Cooley was named the head coach of the Providence Friars. He has since led the Friars to four NCAA Tournament appearances, including a trip to the Sweet Sixteen in 2014. He has also been named Big East Coach of the Year three times, in 2013, 2016 and 2018.
